You hate to take joy in someone else’s pain, but in this case, I just might. With the news that Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim catcher Jeff Mathis fractured his wrist, it meant that perhaps finally Mike Napoli will get his shot to be the full time catcher in Anaheim.

I say perhaps because it seems Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia would rather put himself behind the plate instead of Napoli. Scioscia must think Napoli is the worst defensive catcher he has ever seen because that is the only excuse he has for not playing Napoli so far this year.

Napoli only has 21 AB’s going into last night’s action on the young season. Now he should get the majority of the playing time in Anaheim.

If you combine Napoli’s 2008 and 2009 seasons, he is a .273 hitter with 40 home runs in 609 AB’s. That means, if he is available in your fantasy league, you should pick him up.
