Kansas City Royals Strip Joakim Soria Of Closers Role

May 30th, 2011

According to Bob Dutton via Twitter, the Kansas City Royals have stripped Joakim Soria of his closer duties. Soria blew his third consecutive save this afternoon. He gave up three runs on four hits in the ninth inning trying to protect a one-run lead against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Aaron Crow will get the first crack at replacing Soria. Crow has a 1.33 ERA and is striking out 8.7 batters per nine innings.

He’s certainly worth picking up in all fantasy formats.
