The Chicago Cubs are hoping that the Gretzky genes (at least Wayne’s, not so much Brent’s) can translate to the diamond.

The Cubs have signed 1B and seventh round pick Trevor Gretzky to an undisclosed deal. Gretzky is the son of the greatest hockey player of all time, Wayne Gretzky.

Gretzky had the option to sign with the Cubs or go to college at San Diego State and chose to go pro. The deal is to believed to be an above slot deal, which is why the terms of the deal haven’t been announced. Major League Baseball doesn’t like to announce the above slot deals so not to affect the market.
