Sorry I didn’t get to this yesterday, but last night was a rough one. I was watching the PAC 12 Championship Game at an University of Oregon bar in NYC.

Capuano is going out west to LA

Since I have readers across the country, let me ask you something: what is in the water at the University of Oregon? Every girl that goes or went there is extremely attractive. It’s ridiculous.

If you are a male in high school, let me make your college choice for you. Go to the University of Oregon. It’s a no-brainer. That was my public service announcement for today.

Sticking with the west coast theme, how about the Los Angeles Dodgers signing Chris Capuano to a two-year, $10 million deal? Capuano had a decent year with the New York Mets in 2011 posting a 4.55 ERA, 8.1 K/9, and a 42.7 percent Ground Ball Percentage in 186 innings.

But to give a two-year contract to a 33-year-old who A. has had multiple Tommy John surgeries and B. is really a 50-pitch pitcher, is risky.

From pitches 1-50, Capuano held opponents to a .677 OPS and gave up just 10 HR’s. From pitches 51-100+, batters hit 17 HR’s and had a .959 OPS against Capuano. This essentially means Capuano is effective for about four-to-five innings and after that, all bets are off.

Capuano also struggled away from Citi Field posting an ERA over five in 84.2 innings. That part doesn’t concern me as much because Dodger Stadium is just, if not more pitcher friendly than Citi Field and he will also be pitching the majority of his road games at Petco Park and AT&T Park. That should help him out away from Dodger Stadium.

The Capuano signing most likely means the Dodgers will waive goodbye to Hiroki Kuroda, so the Dodgers’ rotation currently looks something like this:

1. Clayton Kershaw

2. Chad Billingsley

3. Ted Lilly

4. Chris Capuano

5. Nathan Eovaldi

I would say this is a rotation of a 75-win team in 2012.
