Miami Marlins’ Hanley Ramirez Wants To Be Traded

December 6th, 2011

Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reports that Miami Marlins’ SS Hanley Ramirez does not want to play third base and wants to be traded if he can’t play shortstop. A couple of quick thoughts on this.

1. I really have a hard believing the Marlins wouldn’t at least talk to Ramirez and let him know their plans before they signed Reyes, but it really appears like they didn’t. That is just nuts to me.

How can the Marlins not have at least broached the subject with Ramirez? That’s just terrible management. Look, I am not saying if Ramirez initially told the Marlins heck no, I am not moving anywhere, they shouldn’t have signed Reyes, but they should have gauged his thoughts on moving positions.

2. This just tells M. Ramirez just doesn’t get it. The Marlins are finally going all out this winter and this clown wants out. Hey Hanley, even Alex Rodriguez switched positions. Get over it.

Ramirez’s leadership has been questioned in the past and if he officially wants out of Miami, it will be questioned even more. This guy seriously needs a image makeover.
