Toronto Blue Jays’ Brett Lawrie Suspended Four Games

May 16th, 2012

Major League Baseball has suspended Toronto Blue Jays’ 3B Brett Lawrie for four games because of his actions on Tuesday night. For those of you not aware, Lawrie threw his helmet at home plate umpire Bill Miller after Miller called out Lawrie on strikes in the ninth inning.

I for one am shocked by this. I am not shocked by the suspension, but I am shocked by the lack of games. Cole Hamels gets five games for admitting to plunking Bryce Harper and Lawrie gets only four games for throwing his helmet at an umpire? I thought this was a 10-plus game suspension for sure. Really shocked by the lack of games.

Lawrie is appealing his suspension and is in the lineup tonight against the New York Yankees.
