Fantasy preview of the Baltimore Orioles versus Toronto Blue Jays series starting 11th September @ Blue Jays.

In this American League East division match up, the third place Baltimore Orioles take on the last place Toronto Blue Jays.

Despite the difference in the standings, the teams are relatively evenly matched. Both teams are mediocre on the mound and offensively rely on the long ball.

  • Monday’s game has Ubaldo Jimenez on the mound for the Orioles versus Marco Estrada for the Blue Jays. Jimenez is 5-9 with an astronomical 6.80 ERA and 29 home runs allowed in 129 2/3 innings. Estrada is 7-8 with a 5.00 ERA and has also been victimized by the long ball, allowing 26 home runs.
  • On the mound for the Orioles on Tuesday is Dylan Bundy. He will be opposed by Joe Biagini for the Blue Jays. Bundy is 13-9 with a 4.12 ERA and 26 home runs surrendered in 159 1/3 innings. Biagini is only 3-10 with a 5.29 ERA and 0-2 over his last three starts.
  • Wednesday’s match up is Kevin Gausman for the Orioles against Marcus Stroman for the Blue Jays. Gausman is a .500 pitcher this season at 10-10 with a 4.98 ERA. Stroman has been the best starter for the Blue Jays, coming in at 11-7 with a 3.08 ERA.

Offensively, the Orioles are lead by Jonathan Schoop with 31 home runs, 102 RBI and a .304 batting average. Manny Machado completes and excellent one-two punch with 32 home runs, 91 RBI and a .271 batting average. Adam Jones is having another solid season with 26 home runs and a .281 batting avearge. Trey Mancini, Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo complete the power threats with 23, 23 and 22 home runs respectively.

The Blue Jays top offensive threat is Justin Smoak with 37 home runs and a .285 batting average. Kendrys Morales is another player to watch with 27 home runs and a .244 batting average. Others to watch at Josh Donaldson (25 home runs, .254 average) and Jose Bautista, who has gone deep 22 times.

Cut to the Chase Prediction:

Look for the Orioles to fend off the Blue Jays in two of the three games, winning the series.
