Chicago White Sox versus Kansas City Royals 11th September 2017
Chicago White Sox versus Kansas City Royals series fantasy preview starting 11th September @ Royals.
This American League Central division match up features the third place Kansas City Royals versus the last place Chicago White Sox.
Neither team has been stellar on the mound, but the Royals have the clear advantage at the plate.
- In Monday’s opener, Reynaldo Lopez goes for the White Sox and Jason Hammel goes for the Royals. Lopez is 0-3 with a 4.84 ERA in four starts, while Hammel is 8-10 with a 4.73 ERA. He’s been hurt by the long ball, allowing 24 in 161 2/3 innings, while striking out 125.
- There is uncertainty for the White Sox in Tuesday’s match up, as a starter has not officially been named. Mike Pelfrey normally would be scheduled, but he is 3-11 with a 5.51 ERA. Sam Gaviglio is on the mound for the Royals. He comes in with a 3-5 mark and a 4.41 ERA and 0-4 over his last four decisions.
- In the finale, the White Sox have an advantage in terms of pitching. Lucas Giolito has done well in limited action, going 2-2 with a 2.82 ERA. Ian Kennedy has been roughed up for the Royals, losing his last five decisions and has allowed 30 home runs with a 5.45 ERA this season.
Offensively, Avisail Garcia of the White Sox leads both teams with a .321 batting average, while Mike Mustakas of the Royals leads in home runs with 36. Jose Abreu is the biggest power threat for the White Sox, pounding 28 home runs and a .295 batting average.
Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez each have 24 home runs for the Royals and Matt Davidson has matched that total for the White Sox. Lorenzo Cain and Whit Merrifield add speed and solid overall production to the well balanced Royals attack.
Cut to the Chase Prediction:
My money is on the Royals to take at least two of three and possibly sweep the White Sox, which could put them in position to make a run at a wild card.
NB: that the statistics are for games through Friday, September 8.
