Colorado Rockies versus Arizona Diamondbacks 11th September 2017
Colorado Rockies versus Arizona Diamondbacks starting 11th September @ Diamondbacks fantasy preview.
In this three-game battle of two National League West teams, the second place Diamondbacks take on the third place Rockies.
The Diamondbacks are in excellent position for the post season, while the Rockies are in the mix for the second wild card spot.
- In Monday’s opener, Kyle Freeland is on the mound for the Rockies versus Zack Greinke for the Diamondbacks. Freeland is 0-3 over the last six, but is 11-10 with a 3.99 ERA for the season. Greinke ha been excellent, coming in at 16-6 with a 3.01 ERA. He’s struck out 194 and allowed only 150 hits in 179 1/3 innings.
- Tuesday’s game features John Gray for the Rockies and Taijuan Walker for the Diamondbacks. Gray is above .500 this year at 7-4, but has a mediocre 4.07 ERA. Walker is a winner of his last three and is 9-7 with a 3.33 ERA overall.
- In the series finale on Wednesday, German Marquez comes in at 10-6 with a 4.27 ERA and only 1-2 over the last eight starts. Corbin has been victimized by the long ball, allowing 23 home runs and is 13-12 with a 4.16 ERA.
Offensively, both teams have MVP candidates in Charlie Blackmon for the Rockies and Paul Goldschmidt for the Diamondbacks. Blackmon is batting .340 with 34 home runs, while Goldschmidt has 33 home runs, 109 RBI and a .314 average.
Other players to watch are Nolan Arenado of the Rockies (31 home runs, 116 RBI, .305 average), Mark Reynolds (25 home runs) and Jake Lamb (27 home runs).
Cut to the Chase Prediction:
Arizona is at home and have been one of the hottest teams in baseball. My betting forecast is to expect that to continue with a series win against the Rockies.
NB: that all statistics are through Friday, September 8.
