Detroit Tigers versus Cleveland Indians 11th September 2017
Fantasy preview of the Detroit Tigers versus Cleveland Indians series starting 11th September @ Indians.
This American League Central match up is between the first place Indians and the fourth place Tigers.
What is likely to be at least a series win for the Indians and possibly a sweep is very likely indeed, I will examine the match ups below in more detail.
- On the mound Monday for the Tigers is Matthew Boyd, who comes in at 5-9 with a 5.93 ERA. He is opposed by Carlos Carrasco, who has excellent overall numbers at 14-6, a 3.53 ERA and 192 strikeouts in 173 1/3 innings.
- Tuesday’s game is the most lopsided in favor of the Indians. Myles Jaye is on the hill for the Tigers, coming in with a 1-0 record in only two appearances this season. Cy Young Award candidate Corey Kluber is on the mound for the Indians. He is 15-4 with a 2.56 ERA, 235 strikeouts and only 121 hits allowed in 175 2/3 innings.
- The series finale on Wednesday features Buck Farmer for the Tigers and Mike Clevinger for the Indians. Farmer has struggled overall with a 6.32 ERA, but has a winning record of 4-2. Clevinger hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last two starts and is 9-5 with a 3.30 ERA for the season.
Offensively, the Tigers top threat is Nicholas Castellanos with 21 home runs and 84 RBI. Veterans Miguel Cabrera and Ian Kinsler clearly are a far cry from their prime, but have still contributed 14 home runs and 16 home runs, respectively.
The Indians are lead by Jose Ramirez, who has been good in every fantasy category. He’s batting .309 with 47 doubles, 25 home runs and 15 stolen bases. Francisco Lindor is another to watch, batting .272 with 35 doubles and 27 home runs. The biggest power threat is Edwin Encarnacion, who has belted 34 home runs, while Carlos Santana has added 23.
Cut to the Chase Prediction:
My money is on a sweep for the Indians at home, this will increase their lead in the division.
NB: stats are as of games through Friday, September 8.
