Seattle Mariners versus Texas Rangers 11th September 2017
Seattle Mariners versus Texas Rangers starting 11th September @ Rangers fantasy preview.
This battle features two American League West rivals battling to get back into wild card contention.
The teams appear evenly matched on paper as I examine the pitching match ups and offensive potential.
- Monday’s game has Ariel Miranda on the mound for the Mariners versus Miguel Gonzalez for the Rangers. Miranda is 8-6 with a 4.72 ERA and has allowed an eye opening 35 home runs in 156 1/3 innings. Gonzalez is 1-0 over the last five starts and is 7-10 with a 4.48 ERA.
- The middle game of the series features Andrew Moore for the Mariners against Cole Hamels for the Rangers. Moore has appeared in only eight games this season, posting a 1-3 record with a high 5.89 ERA. Hamels has a relatively mediocre 4.03 ERA, but is 9-3 for the season.
- In Wednesday’s finale, Mike Leake takes the ball for the Mariners. He is only 9-12 with a 4.10 ERA for the season, but has won both his starts with the Mariners. He is opposed by Martin Perez for the Rangers, coming in at 12-10 with a 4.81 ERA.
Offensively, both teams rely on the long ball. Jean Segura is the table setter for the Mariners, batting .302 with 20 stolen bases. Nelson Cruz leads the power attack with 31 home runs and 104 RBI. Kyle Seager, Robinson Cano and Mike Zunino add to the power output with 22, 21 and 21 home runs respectively.
Elvis Andrus leads the Texas attack as the most consistent bat on the team. He’s hitting .302 with 20 home runs and 24 stolen bases. Joey Gallo provides the most power, belting 37 home runs, while Mike Napoli (29 home runs) and Rougned Odor (28 home runs) complete the devastating power trio.
Cut to the Chase Prediction:
The Rangers are playing at home and have an edge in terms of offensive prowess. My betting forecast, Look for them to win two of three and maintaining their position in the division.
NB: that all statistics are for games through Friday, September 8.
